Drone fishing New Zealand West coast with a XIRO fishing drone.
Catch from four five hook sets includes snapper, trevally and kahawai.
Conditions were tough with a 2.5 meter swell being broken up by a 10 knot onshore wind resulting in white foam for at least two hundred meters offshore every time a big set came in.
We abandoned our first possie after catching a couple of big ocean going kahawai and moved to around 20 kilometres south of Glinks Gully.
It was the right choice as we caught some nice snapper and a big trevally. I used the freshly caught kahawhai for bait and Alan Digby was using frozen mullet.
Alan was fishing around 100 meters north of us with a SplashDrone. We both caught four good fish with Alan catching a very nice snapper which dwarfed my 2.5 kg fish. We made a separate video of Alans Splash Drone fishing and it will be posted over the next few days.
We were certain that if the swell had been lower. or the wind offshore. we would have had an even better days drone fishing.
